Sitter Spotlight: Lauren K.

What's your favorite age to work with and why? Any age! I love a child's enthusiasm for new things and willingness to learn. It’s amazing to see the little things that make a child’s world so exciting!

What do you enjoy most about being a Sitterwise sitter? I love that you get to be a tourist and explore the wonderful city of San Diego. Getting to see the various communities, hotels and sites while of course spending time with kids which makes it more exciting! And most importantly you get to meet some pretty awesome families!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Surfing. I’ve tried it a few times but would love to master it!

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time? I love to go on adventure walks with the kids if available. “I spy with my little eyes” is a fun game for all ages and it gives everyone a chance of exploration.

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? Going to the beach or doing yoga. They both truly relax me.

What three traits define you? Creative, patient and kind

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be? John Wooden, former basketball coach of UCLA and PE teacher. Being a teacher myself, I would love to pick his brain on teaching philosophies and life goals. We ironically share the same birthday too.

What’s the last book you read? Teach Like a Pirate

What is your favorite family tradition? Celebrating Easter. It’s a great time of year spending time with family and enjoying the nice warmer weather spring brings. I also love the beautiful colors and bunny themed events since I have two bunnies of my own.

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day? Lauren Conrad

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pizza!

What's one thing you can't live without? My family.

Do you have any hidden talents? I make my own jewelry.

What makes you laugh? When my daughter laughs.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Paris

If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 13 year old self? To really enjoy yourself being a kid, live life to the fullest. It goes by really fast and you will miss it. And also don’t stress about what other people think of you. Be your own true self.

What kind of music is currently downloaded on your phone? Pop/Rock

Share your most favorite Sitterwise experience: I had a job at the Hotel Del with a family who requested me to take care of their 2 children. They kindly asked me to join them on the beach for s’mores after watching the kids which is something I’ve always wanted to do! There were treats galore which was heaven! I got to really get to know the family better too!

I am glad that there are such teachers who help children develop. I like to learn. Although sometimes I encounter difficulties in writing a coursework or a thesis. That's why I turned to residency personal statement writers to write this assignment. I think I did the right thing because it saved my time and my performance was normal.
